Taking your cat or dog on the road is one of the most rewarding aspects of RVing. Especially when you consider travel alternatives such as flying to a destination, staying in a dirty hotel, and leaving your beloved pet behind in the care of a pet sitter, or even worse, a boarding facility. Or, there is always the other great alternative - flying and taking your pet with you. I have experienced flying with my pets first hand in a number of ways, and it is not a good experience for the pets or for the owner's heart condition. (I was a nervous wreck every time I flew with my pets).
So, once you decide to bring your pet with you while camping, you will probably need some supplies, medications, food, kennels, and various pet accouterments. Over the years, I have found that I save myself a lot of time (and money) by ordering what I need ahead of time on the Internet.

As newbie RVers, we thought we were attentive students when the Airstream dealer spent a morning with us explaining all the nuances of the trailer, hitching, pitfalls, etc. We took delivery of the trailer and a new truck in March and decided a short trip in early April from Ontario to Myrtle Beach would be a good trial run and also allow us a visit with cousins who live in South Carolina. We decided to stay our first night in Pennsylvania at a truck stop. Lesson #1 - Stop early to get a camper spot (Snowbirders returning to Canada in droves)!. But, being a trucker, my husband had no qualms about parking between two big rigs - both of which were refrigeration units which ran all night!
