Beautiful Zion National Park Is a Terrific Utah Camping Destination
Zion National Park is located in Utah near the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin and Mojave Desert. Best known for Zion Canyon, which is 15 miles long and up to half a mile deep, Zion National Park's unique location makes for a very diverse park. Mountains, rivers, canyons, desert, buttes, mesas, and monoliths are found within the park. There are also four very distinct life zones - desert, woodland, riparian and coniferous forest. Devils Tower National Monument is located in Wyoming and covers 1347 acres of land. In 1906, Devils Tower National Monument became the nation’s first National Monument. The land surrounding the Devils Tower, which looms 1267’ above the surrounding area, is covered with pine forests, woodlands and grasslands. While the tower dominates the landscape, there is plenty to see and do while in the park. There are plenty of hiking trails which take you through the forests, grasslands and woodlands surrounding Devils Tower and one that takes you around its base. Over the years, Devils Tower National Monument has become a very popular rock climbing site. The sheer majesty of the Devils Tower combined with the beautiful land around it makes this Monument a great Wyoming RV camping destination!
Alaska Camping in Denali National Park
Denali National Park was established in 1980, although a smaller park named Mount McKinley National Park was established first in 1917. This park was meant to protect Dall sheep which were native to the area. A separate park named Denali National Monument was established in 1978 and the two were combined to create Denali National Park. The park is best known for its wide variety of wildlife and the 20,320’ tall Mount McKinley, named for President McKinley. This name is only used by those outside of Alaska; locals refer to it simply as Denali. The park’s remote location and beautiful scenery make it an excellent Alaska camping destination.
