Where to Camp in the Niagara Region in Canada
Most agree, one of the favorite destinations for RVers in Ontario, Canada is the Niagara Region, and for several reasons. Almost everyone, young and old wants to see Niagara Falls. A bonus to seeing the Falls is all the tourism activities and sites in the immediate area.
Just to name a few local attractions, there is Fallsview Casino Niagara, Clifton Hill, Niagara on the Lake, and the Maid of the Mist boat ride – more than enough to fill a week’s vacation.
Clifton Hill is ideal for children from eight to eighteen – visit
. There are several blocks of attractions, many of which satisfy the likes of couples and their children – young or old. You can greet the stars of music and film at the Movieland wax museum, enjoy over 70,000 square feet of rides and games at the Canadian Midway, stroll through Ripley’s Museum, enjoy Niagara’s enormous butterfly conservatory, and much more.
For the wine connoisseur, the Canadian Niagara Region offers over 80 wineries available for touring and wine tasting. In addition to many famous wineries that have one gold medals in wine tasting worldwide, some are even owned by a few famous names like Mike Weir, Dan Aykroyd and Wayne Gretzky.
The Niagara area is also regarded as Canada’s golf capital. There are more golf courses per square mile in Niagara than any other area in Canada.
Where to Stay!
Now that we’ve got you interested in where to vacation, let’s talk about where to stay. My favorite spot is Bissell’s Hideaway (
), which is centrally located in Niagara in the little town of Pelham. Bissell’s caters to the seasoned camper (tenting or RV) or someone just looking for an all-in-one resort. You can pitch your tent by their small lake, or park your RV in one of hundreds available, fully-services sites.
For non-campers, you can rent a small cabin, or a fully equipped two-bedroom cabin, complete with knotty pine interior, vaulted ceilings and all the comforts of a deluxe cabin, including central air, your own personal deck and, of course, your own gas barbeque.
What will make your stay truly rewarding is the available activities for couples and for families. You will be captivated by their gorgeous one-acre swimming pool, surrounded by manicured lawns, lounge chairs and enormous, but elegant umbrellas. Young children will be thrilled with the splash pad with water squirting up from the floor and all kinds of water activities. Teens will be challenged by the BIG RUN water slide with over 200 feet of winding turns.
Activities only begin with the pool. There is always something going on to keep you busy – but only if you want to participate. Professional beach volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball, bocce, horseshoe pitches, a huge playground, and acres of grass for you to engage in your favorite activities. If that is not enough, for the avid golfer, there are over 40 golf courses in the Niagara Region, many of which cater from the novice to the scratch golfer.
If R&R is what you have in mind, then just go for a hike, lounge around the pool and a favorite, and sit around your campfire at night enjoying the serenity of a quiet evening. Another favorite destination within the park is the Big Timber Spa. An hour at Big Timber will prepare you for one of the most relaxing vacations you’ve had in a while.
For those who want total pampering and hate to cook, you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Bissell’s Restaurant. For your added convenience the on-site store can provide grocery and camping supplies, there are fully equipped clean bathrooms with hot showers scattered throughout the park, and finally, one of the most modern Laundromats you will ever see in a camping resort.
So come to Niagara, Canada and see the Falls, visit the stars, and above all, stay in one of the most beautiful RV and Camping Resorts – Bissell’s Hideaway Camping Resort – Water Park – and Spa –
